

Cecelia “Sally” E. VanHaitsma, age 84 of Byron Center, MI, went home to be with Jesus November 19, 2025. Sally was born May 10, 1941 to Wilbur and Grace Terpstra in Moline, Michigan. In her early years, Sally lived in California and Michigan, moving with her family between the two states.
Sally was accomplished seamstress. She worked for Cutlerville Bridal, Dorr Bridal, and Leigh’s of Breton Village. If she wasn’t doing alterations, she was sewing for her family and doing crafts of many kinds. In her later years, she was involved with quilting at home and at church. Sally also enjoyed remodeling and gardening. She frequently had a project going, even up until the Lord called her home.
Sally will be deeply missed by her sisters Ruth Terpstra and Terri (Terpstra) VanDyke; children Wiebe Tuinstra, Sharon (Keith) Herring, Sandra (Rick) Spaman, and Calvin (Karen) Tuinstra, as well as Joe (Jody) VanHaitsma, Tim (Tammy) VanHaitsma, Lyndsey (Roger) Young; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Grace Terpstra; brother, John Terpstra; first husband, Thomas Tuinstra; second husband, Larry VanHaitsma; and grandchildren Jimmy Herring and Cassidy Spaman.
A funeral service celebrating Sally’s life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2025 at Corinth Reformed Church, 129 100th St. SE, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. In memory of Sally and in lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Pregnancy Resource Center.
