

Charles Francis Hoffman, 66, passed away August 17, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 30 years, Pamela Hoffman; sons Justin (Jalayne) Ladd, Christopher Ladd; grandsons Jax and Vance. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Hoffman, sadly when Chuck was only seven years old; father, Charles J. Hoffman, just over a year ago; and brother-in-law, Robert Fifelski; and brothers Ken and Mark Hedlund.
He is also survived by his caring (step) mother of over 43 years, Patricia Hoffman; siblings Joanie (Joe) Rogers, Mary Ann (Doug) Schires, Patty (Kevin) Sheridan, Phyllis (Bill) Aman, Scott (Paula) Hedlund, Teresa Hedlund, Colleen Hedlund; brothers- and sisters-in-law Carol (Gene) Terlisner, Patricia (Jordy) Neira, A. Terry Fifelski, Elaine Fifelski, Gary (Suzanne) Fifelski, Linda (Lance) Wissman, Janine Simpson; childhood brother/sister-cousins to the Sakalian family; many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In Chuck's younger years, he was a talented athlete. He graduated from East Kentwood High School. He excelled in many sports: wrestling, football, and track. An accomplishment of his was a long-standing high jump school record of 6' 5-1/2," which he held for many years.
In addition to his love for playing sports, he enjoyed cheering on the Detroit Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings. He was also a fan of science fiction anything: Star Trek, Star Wars...he enjoyed it all.
Chuck graduated from Grand Rapids Junior College with an Associates Degree in Applied Arts and Science. He worked in the automotive industry, solving problems relating to quality control. He was a unique problem solver in parts manufacturing, using low-cost, effective solutions.
Everyone loved him, and we are deeply saddened by his passing. Chuck is remembered as a respectful, gentle giant, and one who kept his faith close to his heart.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Cook Funeral Home (Byron Center Chapel), 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 11-12 p.m. prior to the service.
