Colleen Smith, age 95, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished soul, passed away peacefully May 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Born May 30, 1929, Colleen spent her life giving selflessly to those around her. She was a woman of quiet strength who worked tirelessly throughout her life, always placing her family first. Whether it was tending to her beloved flowers or preparing a warm meal from scratch, Colleen found joy in the simple, beautiful moments of everyday life—especially when surrounded by the people she loved most.
Colleen was not only an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother—she was the heart of her family. Her gentle spirit, unwavering devotion, and boundless love shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had a special way of making a house feel like home and a meal feel like a memory.
She leaves behind her beloved son, Rod (Whitney) Smith; grandson, Chance Smith; brother, Larry (Barbara) Parker of Greenville, MI; sister-in-law, Donna Parker of Stanton, MI; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Colleen is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dene Smith; parents Chauncey and Catherine Parker; sisters Jackie Moomey and Josephine Turner; and brother, Jim Parker.
Though she will be deeply missed, Colleen’s love and lessons will continue to bloom in every flower she adored and in every family gathering around the kitchen table.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Colleen and Dene will be laid to rest together at Salem Township Cemetery at a later date. In memory of Colleen and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Holland. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresbyron.com in Colleen’s online guestbook.
