Dale James Toepperwein, age 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, January 9, 2024. He will be lovingly remembered by Moonyne, his wife of 64 years; daughter, Dee Anne and son-in-law, Mike; grandchildren Kirk, Garrett, and Harlow; sister, Jeannine; extended family; and many, many wonderful friends.
Dale graduated from Breckenridge High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1950 and was a proud graduate of Texas A&M College in 1954. He worked for Prentice Hall Publishing for 35 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed a part-time career in real estate. A native Texan, Dale enjoyed country living in both Blue Ridge and Flatonia, Texas. He and Moonyne adopted Michigan as their second home, spending over 20 summers at the family cottage on Little Platte Lake, and eventually made Michigan their permanent home to be close to family.
Faith, family, and friends were the hallmarks of Dale’s life. He loved his Savior and kept a close walk with Him until the end. Providing for his family was foremost in his life, happily putting their interests before his own. Spending time with friends and loved ones was his joy. Many of you remember get-togethers, fishing outings, and barbeques Dale loved to host. And you can’t forget “Toddy Time” on the deck, or the dock, or the porch, or wherever friends were gathered at five o’clock! His wry sense of humor brought life to any gathering. And the man took care of people. If there was anything he could do to meet a need or to make life a little better, he would. His loving spirit will be remembered and missed.
A memorial service to celebrate Dale’s life will take place later this spring or early summer because warmer weather makes it easier for those traveling. Click the link below to be notified when details are announced. In honor of Dale, contributions may be made to:
