Dale VanAllsburg, age 91, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, June 20, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Beryl “nee Gleason” VanAllsburg; his first wife, Marilyn “nee Stillbert” VanAllsburg; grandsons Nicholas Francis Langlois and Bruce Dale Langlois; brother, Everett VanAllsburg; and sister, Carol Spencer. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Diane VanAllsburg; his children Lynda (Craig) Herremans, Stacy (Bruce) Langlois, Julie (Ray) Thielen, Cami Bellmer, Ken Cadwallader; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three little blessings on the way; sister-in-law, Nancy VanAllsburg; brother-in-law, Doug Stillbert; and many extended family and friends.
Dale graduated from South High School in 1949. He went on to graduate from Davenport University in 1951, earning a degree in business accounting. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After serving, he worked for many years at Tassell Hardware/Gulf + Western as an accountant. He later worked as a comptroller/treasurer at American Metal and Plastics from which he retired in 1995. He loved spending time with his family, watching and participating in sports of all kinds, and playing bridge. He also loved traveling - especially on a scenic safari in Africa, an Alaskan cruise, the Caribbean Islands, Normandy Beach in France, Australia and New Zealand. He cherished his family vacations to Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and camping at Gun Lake. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Oasis Senior Advisors, Mission Point Health of Grandville, Railside Assisted Living Center of Byron Center and to Kindred Hospice for their care and compassion for Dale.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Cook Funeral and Cremation Services - Byron Center Chapel, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
