Dan was born March 31, 1969, in Bath, Michigan, to Donald and Georgia. An outdoorsman at heart, Dan found his greatest joy sharing adventures with the people he loved, whether casting a line on the water, riding his motorcycle on winding roads, or tending to his beloved plants. His passion for fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and horticulture was matched only by the warmth he showed to everyone he met. Dan graduated from NBC Tech in Ohio with a degree in business, where he proudly achieved a perfect attendance award, a testament to his dedication and work ethic. He was also proud of hitting a hole-in-one during one of his only golf outings—just one example of the fun and adventurous spirit he brought into everything he did. Known for his boundless generosity and deep love for his family, he was always the first to lend a helping hand, and his quick wit and warm humor brought smiles to everyone around him. Dan’s kindness left an enduring impact on his community and friends who remember him as someone who loved fiercely and gave selflessly.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Patti; children Paige, Zane (Alexis), and Brock (Stephanie); sisters Lori and Debbie; nephew, Matthew; niece, Christina (John); close friend, Lee; and many other close friends who were like family. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Georgia; nephew, Michael; and great-nephew, Lucas.
A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and the joy he brought to their lives. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresbyron.com in their guestbook online.
