Dee will be lovingly missed by her husband of 66 years, Leon “Lee” Wassink; children Brent (Glenda) Wassink, Kurt (Sue) Wassink, Mark (Heidi) Wassink; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Hugh (Lois) Slenk; sister, Lois (Bruce) Volkers; sister-in-law, Arlene Wassink; brother-in-law, Dave (Barb) Wassink; many other family members and friends.
Lee, their children, and family are grateful to God for her love, zest for life, and life of faith. In addition to caring for her family, Dee participated in many groups at First Byron CRC; she served by teaching catechism and with various women’s ministries. Other involvements included Pine Rest Auxiliary, Kids’ Hope, and substitute teaching at Byron Center Christian School.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., at First Byron CRC, 8541 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Interment will take place in the morning prior to the service.
