

Derek Decker, age 32, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, June 4, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Connie Gordon and grandfather, Zahel Decker. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Carly Decker and his beautiful children Cora and Drew. Derek was described as the “shining star of his family,” and will be remembered by his mother, Jenny Hill; father, Vern (Michelle) Decker; grandparents Kathleen “Mamau” Collins and Richard “Papa” Collins; aunt, Pamela Collins; cousins Ryan (Rachelle), and Brandon; uncle, Steve (Amy) Decker; aunt, Dora (Bob) Haan; uncle, Brian Decker; step-siblings Kristin (Eric) Morrison and their son, Elliot; Jason (Korin) Richardson; father-in-law, David Gordon; sister-in-law, Taylor Gordon and her daughter, Natalie; grandmother, Barbara Decker; and many friends who loved him dearly.
Derek was the operations manager at Plummers Disposal Services for over a decade and took pride in being a top-notch mechanic. He enjoyed snowmobiling with friends and was also a member of the Michigan Snowmobile Association. Derek was hardworking, driven, and passionate. Carly and the kids were his world - he strived to be their provider and help create the best future possible for them. He was known for his honesty, his kindness given to strangers, and love for all of his family. He and Carly built strong friendships over the years and always made time for them, viewing each of them as extended family.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home - Byron Center Chapel, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315.
