Don was born January 5, 1946, in Grand Rapids, MI. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War before pursuing a career as a tool and die maker. Don was known for his deep love for his family, his lifelong passion for hot rods, and for being a proud founding member of the Road Rodz Car Club.
He is survived by his daughters Tamara (Cliff) and Donelle (Richard); grandchildren Justin, Anna, Morgan (Brad), Natalie, Kayla, Nathan, Ethan, and Brayden; and great-grandchildren Carter and Eliza. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary; parents Lloyd Sr. and Henrietta; and brothers Lloyd Jr. and Claude.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center. A time to visit with family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service; all are invited to gather and honor Don’s memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Forgotten Soldiers Outreach in memory of Don.
