Duke Hofstra, age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, August 28, 2022. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, JoAnn Hofstra; children Lori (Rick) VanWyk, Jacki (Dan) Bradt, Bruce (Kathy) Hofstra, Rhonda (Tim) Behrens, Christie (Erick) Fokkema, Rachel (Steve) Sytsma; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brother, Dave Hofstra; brother-in-law, Bill (Etta) Post; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Duke was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a self-taught man of all trades. He took pride in working with his lifelong friend and business partner, Don Nederhood, to start D & D Building, that eventually grew to over 100 employees. He was also an avid hunter, going on many different safari and hunting trips. His cabin up north was his favorite place to enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Duke was always known for sharing his many humorous stories of life experiences. Even later with his health struggles, he remained upbeat and positive. His famous reply to “how are you?” was always “peachy!"
