Gene was genuinely devoted to his family. He loved and spoiled his wife of 60 years, Lita; his two daughters Audra (Dave) Lambers and Mindy (Mike) Septer; grandchildren Ashley (Avery) Jones, Abbey (Alex) Runk, Olivia (Nikolae) Schuitema, Ryan Septer, and Quin Septer. He was also thrilled to become a great-grandpa to Grayson Jones and Briggs Schuitema.
Gene enjoyed the company of his precious friends who enriched his life in many ways. Gene felt grateful fand blessed for the good life God had given him. We will all miss his generosity, kindness, humor, and love.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the ministry fund at Rush Creek Bible Church
