Gary worked for many years in the construction/service industries for Family Fare and also at Hope Network. He spent most of his church life at First Byron CRC - served on various committees and was involved in many ministries. His greatest joy was leading and teaching young men in Cadets, which he did for 25 years. Later in life, he was involved in Crossroads Prison Ministries where he loved to correct lessons and write letters to inmates. He also enjoyed interacting with his small group Bible Study over the last 20 years of his life.
He loved his family and his siblings - whether talking to them on the phone or visiting them at bimonthly gatherings. Later, his greatest joys were his grandchildren. He loved reading books, playing games with them, watching piano and dance recitals, or cheering at basketball and baseball games. He also enjoyed woodworking and carving in his spare time, as well as reading anything from theology to history books.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 6 -8 p.m. at First Byron Christian Reformed Church, 8541 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315.
