Helen Virginia Chandler, age 98, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Helen loved the Lord and dedicated her life to her faith - especially to service at her church. She loved children and taught Sunday school for many years. Helen was also involved in Cares Ministry, served funeral luncheons, played piano, and sang many beloved hymns with her church family.
Helen is survived by her children Steve (Ruth) Chandler, Bonnie Bass, Sandi (Chuck) De Vries; grandchildren Troy De Vries, Jenna (Derek Smith) De Vries; 104-year-old sister, Alma Gilleo; brother-in-law, Norman (Doris) Chandler; and extended family and friends. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Chandler; son-in-law, Elton Bass; siblings Richard, Eugene, Margaret, and Caroline.
A funeral service celebrating Helen’s life will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Clyde Park Church of the Nazarene, 2545 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI 49509, with visitation from 12-12:45 p.m. prior to the service. In memory of Helen and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clyde Park Church of the Nazarene.
