Ilene Edna Bieber

Ilene Edna Bieber, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Ilene had many passions in life, especially for the outdoors. She loved tending to the flowers, fruits, and vegetables in her garden, making sure there wasn’t a weed in sight! She amassed a beautiful collection of unique and antique teapots, each one special in its own right, with a story attached.

Ilene could swing a hammer with skill, renovating and even completing an addition to her home in Jamestown. She was a hard worker; she retired from Camp Field Fiberglass and Plastics in Zeeland, Michigan, and went on to work at Michigan Bulb for fun in her retirement.

Ilene enjoyed music and dancing; her favorite song was “Maggie May.” She believed that “all should know how to dance polka!,” a trait she tried to pass on to her family. She also loved to play card games. Her favorite games were Rummy, Golf, and Set-Back. She would play with whoever for however long they wanted to play.

Ilene was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she loved her family. Ilene also cherished her faith. She was a devout Catholic and attended at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. She will be missed by many.

Ilene will be remembered by her children Denise (Joe) Gill, Ed (Paula) Bieber, Beth Edgerton, Mark Bieber, Janice Bieber, Jackie Zook, Glen (Patty) Bieber; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Rudy Bieber; siblings Charlene Elderkin, Jack Young Jr.; sister-in-law, Carmen Young; family friend, Brenda Bieber; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ilene was preceded in death by her children Rose Berens, Nick Bieber; son-in-law, Dale Edgerton; parents Jack Sr. and Eva Young; siblings Richard Young, Patricia (Jerry) Pierce; brother-in-law, Jim Elderkin; and sister-in-law, Marge Young.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Cook Funeral Home (Byron Center Chapel), 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with a Vigil service beginning at 4:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 9408 Wilson Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 9:30-10:15 a.m. prior to the service.
