

Jean Vander Veen, age 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 17, 2025. Jean was a hard worker and enjoyed working at the family farm and raising, feeding, and tending to their chickens. Most importantly, she cherished her faith and made a special point to share it with those she met. Jean was an avid prayer warrior and kept a place in her heart for those whom she met. She will be so deeply missed.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Nick (Diana) Vander Veen, Linda (Al) Miedema, Laura (Harry) Koster, Marilyn (Bob) Becksvoort, Eric (Jen) Vander Veen; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Hoven; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Vander Veen, and siblings Ella (Herm) Murphy, Ann Steenwyk, Clarence (Agnus) Hoven, Don Hoven, Bernice (Bud) Visser, Bill (Donna) Hoven, Etta DeGroot, Bob (Jane) Hoven, and Ann Hoven.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the team at Byron Manor and Faith Hospice for their care and compassion for Mom.
A funeral service celebrating Jean’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Wayland Christian Reformed Church, 303 E. Elm St., Wayland, MI 49348, with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. In memory of Jean and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Byron Manor or Faith Hospice.
