Marshall Stough, age 47, passed away unexpectedly July 16, 2025. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jennifer Stough; son, Dreu Reed; daughter, Abby Stough; parents Dave and Chris Stough of Adel, Georgia; sisters Greta Mott (Britt) of Olivet, Michigan and Jann Ruff (Doug) of Hahira, Georgia; many nieces and nephews; and three very special little girls across the street.
Growing up in Charlotte, Marshall spent time in 4-H showing cattle and working the family farm. You would often find him snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing. He loved the outdoors and nature.
The last couple of years, Marshall spent his days, and some nights, working at Tommy’s Express as a wash maintenance technician. He absolutely loved working with his crew. He always arrived at work at least 20 minutes early. It probably had something to do with his theory of, “if you ain’t first, you’re last” - Ricky Bobby. Marshall was the epitome of a loyal and hardworking employee and his work ethic was like no other. Behind that infectious laugh and smile was usually a story or two from his teenage years.
Marshall loved his children more than life itself. Some of his best days were spent golfing with Dreu. Anyone who played a round or two with Marshall knew that the day started at dawn and as soon as you finished the round you would be guaranteed to hear him say, “want to play another 18?” When Marshall wasn’t on the golf course, you could find him at home in his recliner watching his favorite shows like Ancient Aliens, Deadliest Catch, Gold Rush, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and pretty much anything that starred Josh Gates. Marshall was a “foodie” and very much enjoyed cooking. He was famous for his turkey on Thanksgiving and his homemade pizzas.
Marshall’s love for his family and children were evident from the start of his life. When Abby was born, that love grew exponentially. There was nothing that he would not do for his little girl. He looked forward to the end of his day when he could come home to wrap her in his arms, often referring to the 10 minute hug as the “daddy trap." Whether it was taking her out on a Saturday morning to Marge’s Donuts or taking her into work, he loved spending time with her. His heart was full of love not only for his children but also for the children in the neighborhood. He recently purchased a slushie machine “for the kids," although it might have had something to do with his love for grape slushies from Sonic. He had so much fun making slushies that he decided the kids also needed a popcorn machine. From piggy back rides, to hide and seek, and water gun fights, Marshall loved it all, even the occasional facials the kids would give him. The firework show he put on this year was “his best show ever” according to the kids.
Marshall lived his life to the fullest every day. He was never scared of anything, and always wanted to try something new. From his neverending storytelling to his “F” bombs, there will never be another one like him. He was an exceptional father, son, husband, and friend to all.
His message to you all would be to love unconditionally, have fun, be kind, and help others when you can. Peace out!
