Warner; parents Alfred and Jennie Ter Haar (DeKok); and sisters Betty Overbeek and Nella Williams. Mary will be remembered with love by her daughters Kandace and Dale Suwyn, Sherri and Mike Lind, Lisa and Doug Wiersma; grandchildren Nick (Wendi) Suwyn, Tabetha (Ben) Vander Roest, Karley Suwyn, Katie (Ryan) Kramer, Michael (Heidi) Lind, Warner Lind, Amanda Lind, Kayla (Aaron) Westhouse, Nicole (Brandon) Klotz, Micah (Catie) Wiersma, Ethan Wiersma; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers Al (Mary) and Carl (Kate) Ter Haar; sisters-in-law Murial Meindertsma and Dolly Warner; brother-in-law, John Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
Mary went to Detroit Mercy School of Nursing and worked at Butterworth Hospital, assisting in the development of the first ICU there. She and Russ met in fifth grade and were married in 1958. Russ and Mary had a full life. They loved God, each other, their kids, and they loved to travel the world with family and friends. Mary knew that a card of comfort was encouraging when facing a difficult situation. She ran the card ministry at Princeton Church for many years. She and Russ were strong supporters of education from South Christian, to Zion Christian, to Potter’s House Christian, to Davenport University. Mary was a friend to many and enjoyed sharing her blessings with those around her, whether it was dinners and boat rides at Green Lake, golfing in Orlando, or even loaning a shawl to one of her favorite waitresses. Mary’s kindness and generosity will be greatly missed.
A time for relatives and friends to visit with Mary’s family will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW Byron Center, MI.
