Michael enjoyed spending time with his family, tinkering with electronics, maintaining his vegetable garden, watching sports, and enjoyed all animals, especially his dog, Benji. He enjoyed working with his hands, both on cars and projects around the home. Michael was generous in many ways, both with his time and talent – he cared for his mother for many years – and was always there to help anyone in need. He will be missed by those who knew him.
Michael is survived by his mother, Donna Ayriss; siblings Cindy (Mark) List, Richard Ayriss Jr., Kevin (Angie) Ayriss; nieces and nephews Hilary (Anthony) Smigiel, Courtney (James) Kibby, Jaden Ayriss; great-niece and -nephew Greyson Kibby and Ensley Kibby.
Michael is preceded in death by his father, Richard Ayriss Sr.; sister-in-law, Gail Ayriss; and faithful companion, Benji.
A memorial celebrating Michael’s life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Cook Funeral Home (Byron Center Chapel), 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation one hour prior.
