Nicholas Ryan Haan, age 41, ran into Jesus' arms on August 30, 2025, after a valiant 12-year battle with brain cancer. After slowly losing his sight on earth, his eyes now behold the beauty of Heaven. Nick was greeted in Heaven by his dear grandparents James Niewiek and Claretta Haan and his uncle, Steven Niewiek. Nick was the proud father of Cameron Haan and Natalie Haan. He is also survived by his loving parents Ray and Sharon (Niewiek) Haan; brothers Ben (Sarah) Haan, Christopher (Liz) Haan, Zach (Stacy) Haan, and Alex (Maddie) Haan; and sister, Chloe (Gabe) Hance. He loved his nieces and nephews: Luke and Logan Haan, Jaxon, Saylor, and Roen Haan, Mia and Henry Haan, and Brynleigh and Wesley Hance; grandparents Ray (Kathy) Haan and Marilyn Niewiek; as well as his many aunts, uncles, and cousins will also miss him.
As a toddler who dragged around a hammer nearly his own size, Nick grew into a talented framer who spent years building houses alongside his dad and brothers. An avid musician, Nick developed a love for rock music and a gift for playing the guitar. He followed the beat of his own drum as an independent man - brave, free-spirited, authentic, and funny. He opened up his soft heart in quiet ways of kindness, particularly to society’s underdogs. Nick had a love for maple frosted donuts and his weekly breakfasts at the truck stop with his good friend, Terry Kimber. You could often find him drinking black coffee out of a mason jar, quick to approach the people on the perimeter of a social event, and drawing them in with a mischievous smirk and a funny observation or a story.
We would like to thank Dr. Lindsay Robell at the University of Michigan Health-West Cancer Center and her staff for the excellent and compassionate care they gave Nick over the last four years.
We will miss Nick immensely here on earth, but look forward to one of his warm, witty greetings in Heaven.
