

Richard John Dragt, age 91 of Byron Center, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ March 12, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie Dragt, brother-in-law Daniel Veurink, and son-in-law Neil Wimbush. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie (Van Houten); children Karen Wimbush, Steven and Janet Dragt, Susan and Robert Kaminski, Beth and Paul VanderLei, and Bruce and Angie Dragt; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Mary Veurink and Doris (Al) Nickels, and brother, Donald (Roxanne) Dragt.
Rich grew up in Grant, Michigan, and served in the army during the Korean conflict. He farmed in Michigan and in Arizona, where he started operations for Miedema Produce. Rich was dedicated to his family, his church, and his work. The family spent many happy summers at Sandy Pines; Rich enjoyed fishing, especially fishing with family members and friends. A friend to many, Rich leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 18 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St., Byron Center. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Second Byron CRC, 7588 Byron Center Ave. SW, Byron Center.
