It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Nawrocki, age 83, on Thursday, June 18, 2026. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Nawrocki; parents Leo and Stella Nawrocki. He will be remembered by his children Michelle (Marc) Rainer, Mark Nawrocki; grandchildren Madisyn (Joshua) Ryan and Maycie Faye Rainer; siblings Mary Ann Geldersma, Sally Nawrocki, Patricia McIntyre, and Bonnie Bruce; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Richard was truly a one of a kind man, from his love for the Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!) to his unwavering support of Ford, and his devotion to his gardens, he showed every person who stepped into his life just how important they were to him. Even at the end, he wanted to make sure that everyone was okay as he made his way back to his Donna. For his two children Mark and Michelle and son-in-law, Marc, he showed a father's love that never waivered, and his two grandchildren Madisyn and Maycie he spoiled like there was no tomorrow.
To some he was known as Richie, the man who was stubborn and strong-willed who wouldn’t take no guff. And though he had many nicknames, his favorite was the Silver Fox, which described not only his handsome looks, but more importantly his always perfectly done hair. Although Richard loved his family to no end, he also held his dog, Neko in his heart until the very end, making sure he would get all of the hot dogs and bologna he wanted when he couldn’t get it for him anymore.
Richard was known to many, but the one person he adored the most was his Donna. When Richard watched his Donna walk down the aisle at their wedding, anyone who looked into his eyes knew that their love would only ever grow. After her passing, Richard would visit Donna’s grave every day to water the flowers he brought and knew were her favorite. She was his favorite person, and he was hers. The love they held for each other was so rare and beautiful, and at the end of his life, Richard was nothing but excited to finally see his love once again.
Richard will never be forgotten in the hearts of those who loved him. He brought happiness and laughter to so many, and although it is with sadness we all must say goodbye, there is a joy to know that one day we will all meet again.
A private celebration of Richard’s life will take place at Cook Memorial Chapel in Grandville. In honor of Richard and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.cookcaresbyron.com in their guestbook online.
