Richard Bernard Young Sr.

Richard Bernard Young Sr., age 90, went to be with his Lord Saturday, March 26, 2022. Richard was preceded in death by his son, Richard Young; parents Jacob and Eva Young; sister, Patricia Pierce; brother-in-law, Jerry Pierce; and sister-in-law, Marge Young. He will be remembered by his wife, Carmen Young; children Roger (Beverly) Young, David Young, Theresa (Dale Cotts) VandenBerg, Randy (Mary Krueger) Young, Michael Young, Carol (Thomas) Lenhart, Marcia (Paul) Havens and Kathy (Ray) Funk; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; siblings Charlene (Jim) Elderkin, Ilene Bieber, Jack Young; sister-in-law, Maryella Simons; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Richard was a longtime member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and the American Legion. He retired from Steelcase after 35 years of service. He raised beef cattle and collected cars, tractors, and trucks. Richard was a down-to-earth person who was always there for his children.

Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with Vigil service at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Funeral Mass will commence at 10:30 a.m. with visitation one hour prior starting at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 9408 Wilson Ave. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315. Msgr. William Duncan will be officiating. In honor of Richard and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Interment will be at St. Sebastian Cemetery.
