Robert Claud Eckhardt, age 94, passed away Sunday morning, November 24, 2024. Robert was a deeply devoted husband to Ruth and father to Randall. He was a helpful and kindhearted man who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Robert volunteered for Meals-On-Wheels for many years. Even though he was a truck driver by trade, he still loved to show his wife and son every corner of the country he loved by way of the family sedan. He loved to tinker in his shop and fix that which needed fixing. He also had an affinity for John Deere tractors, including models, numerous garden tractors, and his prized 620. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
Robert is survived by his son, Randall Eckhardt; sister, Lois Krepps; and sister-in-law, Doreen (Gord) Potter. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Eckhardt; brother, Alvin Eckhardt; sister, Bethel (Dee) Larabee; and brother-in-law, Ron Krepps.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Cook Funeral Home (Byron Center Chapel), 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315.
