Sally Jo's family prays that you will rejoice with them, because Sally Jo has received a renewed body and mind in heavenly perfection.
A longtime resident of Pine Rest Christian Hospital, Sally Jo touched the lives of hundreds of staff, doctors and nurses, all of whom were crucial to the care she required over the course of her life. The family is grateful beyond words for the dedicated caregivers from Hope Network, Network 180, Spectrum Hospice, and many others.
Her immediate family and her family at Westwood Home on the campus of Pine Rest Christian Hospital are thankful for the dedicated staff that cared so lovingly for Sally Jo, meeting her daily needs and desires without fail. They will miss Sally Jo deeply, and prayers of comfort and hope for her caregivers are sought and appreciated.
Sally Jo was preceded in death by her father, Ron Sikkema, and is survived by her mother, Phyllis; siblings Beth and Duane; and many aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sally Jo's death brings a new life of joy in her Lord. Romans 12:15 states “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” It is her family's hope that Sally Jo will now rejoice even as those closest to her mourn.
In 1965, the director of Pine Rest Christian Hospital promised Sally Jo's parents that there would always be a home for her at the facility. That promise was kept by the grace of God. Her family deeply appreciates their care and dedication and cannot express their gratitude sufficiently.
A memorial service for Sally Jo will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Pine Rest Postma Center (300 68th St. SE Building C, Entrance C2, Grand Rapids, MI 49548). In lieu of flowers and in memory in Sally Jo, donations may be made to the Pine Rest Patient Assistance Fund.
The family welcomes memories and messages in their online guestbook at www.cookcaresbyron.com.
