She was a devoted Christian woman whose relationship with her heavenly Father was at the center of her life. Her faith was deep and genuine; she sought to live it out in the way she loved and served others. She was a graduate of South Christian High School and attended Ada Bible Church where she was involved in various Bible studies and fellowship through the years. Sally generously volunteered her time with several organizations, always willing to serve when she could.
One of her greatest joys and proudest calling was being a mother. She took great pride at home with her children and devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising and loving them.
Beyond her family and faith, Sally found great joy in gardening, painting, cooking, reading and having a good cup of coffee. In many ways, her life was much like her garden; she poured love, care, patience, kindness, and time into the lives around her and her influence continues to bloom through the family and friends she leaves behind.
She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, devotion to her family, her servant’s heart and the deep love she had for her Heavenly Father. She will be profoundly missed. Her family finds comfort knowing that she is now in the presence of the Lord whom she loved so dearly. Her life was a testimony of faith, love, devotion, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Jean Wierenga, and her husband, Doug Van Meurs. She is survived by her children Tara (Kevin) McCarthy, Erin (Mike) Jones, Michael (Angie) Vander Ploeg, Danae (Joshua) Dandrow; beloved grandchildren Michael and Andrew Jones, Elle and Grant Vander Ploeg, Jack Dandrow. Also surviving are her siblings Barb (Harry) Van Laan, Karen (Bill) Speyer, John (Jill) Wierenga, Laura (Alex) Schoonveld, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
