Sandra Lou McAlary

Sandra Lou McAlary, age 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior May 29, 2023 while surrounded by her family. Sandy enjoyed spending time outdoors in nature and camping in God’s creation. Her smile could light up a room and she loved to fill the room with the scent of her baked goods. Sandy enjoyed holidays spent together, making and mailing her homemade birthday cards, and shopping. She deeply cherished her faith, which was reflected through how she lived. Most importantly, she valued each moment spent with family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Larry McAlary; daughters Tammy (Brian) Miller, Carmen (Jeff) DeGroote, Corinne (Tom Jr.) Strumberger; grandchildren Chelsey (Zach), Alecia (Jordan), Kayla, Taylor (Nate), Noah (Taylor), Trevor (Anna), Tobi; nine great-grandchildren; siblings Kathy (Chuck) Mingerink, Linda (Ron) Bignall, Bud Stoffel; her four-legged companion, Molly; and many extended relatives, family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Herman and Avis Stoffel.

Funeral services for Sandy will be held 12 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2023 at Cook Funeral Home (Byron Center Chapel), 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center, MI 49315, with visitation from 11-11:45 a.m. prior to the service.
