Sherry Darline Papa

She was preceded in death by mother, Rose Bush; father, Wardell Bush; son, Kelly Papa; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by sister, Bonita Bush; daughters Jennifer Scott, Heather Papa (Jason Barnes), Linda Tell; daughter-in-law, Kathy Papa; grandchildren Stephen, Nick, Crystal, and Samantha; along with great-grandchildren and several cousins; best friend of 72 years, Cindy Gurd.

Sherry was a devoted mother and homemaker, dedicating herself to caring for her family while her children were young. Once her daughters were grown, she returned to school and earned her medical assistant certification. She went on to spend many years caring for patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, taking great pride in the compassion and dedication she brought to her work. Caring for others was a meaningful part of who she was, both in her career and in her family life.

Sherry had a deep love for animals and rarely went without a dog by her side. She was also a talented and generous crocheter, often creating thoughtful gifts for others—from scarves and blankets to dog sweaters and cozy pet beds. She loved to read and found joy in the simple pleasures of life.

Later in life, Sherry was able to travel more, enjoying time on the West Coast as well as in Hawaii and other tropical destinations. These experiences gave her the opportunity to explore new places, create lasting memories, and enjoy the beauty of life with those she loved.

A celebration of life gathering will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m., at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th Street SW, Byron Center, Michigan 49315.
