Bernice M. Plys nee Klank, age 89. Of Calumet City. Passed away November 25, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Chester. Loving mother of Richard (Denise), Jeff, and Jackie Lieberman. Proud grandmother of Erica Plys, Frank (Tiffany) Lieberman, Jennifer, Jason (Fiance’ Dawn) and Alyssa Plys. Dear sister of Rose (The late Chester) Surufka and the late Raymond Klank and Gertrude (The late Jessie) Divine. Aunt and Dear friend to many. Funeral Wednesday 9:15 a.m. from Hennessy-Nowak Funeral Home 400 Pulaski Rd. (154th St.) Calumet City to St. Andrew the Apostle Church Mass 10:00 a.m.. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday From 3 to 8 p.m.. Bernice was president of the St. Rita Altar Guild for over 25 years, vice president and 50 year member of the Ladies Rosary Confraternity, member of Apostleship of Prayer Society, member of Ladies of Coronata #3806 and member of the Carmelite Guild of Calumet City,(all prayers to begin at 4:00 p.m.). Past member of the St. Andrew Parish Council. Member of the OLOK Friendship Club and Past President of Dolton AARP #3250 and member of the Calumet City Historical Society. Bernice received the auxiliary Lady of the year Award, Illinois state Council Knights of Columbus and was the Recipient of the Christifideles Award in 2012 for her generous service in the parish life by Cardinal Francis George.
