Hagop Jake Boroian

HAGOP "JAKE" BOROIAN SOUTH HOLLAND, IL Hagop "Jake" Boroian, age 85 of South Holland, IL, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Satenik Boroian; and his brother, Antranig "Andy" Boroian. He was born in Chicago, where he grew up in a close knit family and neighborhood. He was very active in high school, playing baseball and basketball and he was even on the tumbling team! As a young man he delivered telegrams on his bicycle on the streets of Chicago. He knew those streets well for the rest of his life. He attended the University of Illinois in Chicago and was a pitcher on the baseball team. He went on to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in education and a master's degree in guidance counseling. He started his career as an elementary school teacher. He then was employed at T.F. North High School for 30 years where he was a dedicated Math Teacher and Intramural Sports Director. He continued his active lifestyle in his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf, softball, cards and shooting pool with his friends. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him. Visitation Tuesday from 2:00- 7:00 p.m. at Hennessy- Nowak Funeral Home, 400 Pulaski Rd., (154th St.), Calumet City, IL.
