

Alex is the cherished son of Tom and Andrea Mitchell.
Alex will be sadly missed by his beautiful daughter Michaela and his loving friend Patricia Barron and her daughters Sadie and Payton. He is the much loved brother of Dr. Mark Mitchell and brother-in-law of Karen Mitchell and fun-loving uncle of Alissa Mitchell and Connor Mitchell.
He will be greatly missed by his aunt and uncle, Jim and Marianne Hahn and his uncle Dr. Bruce Owers. Alex leaves his cousins Dr. Wendy Owers and Jim Gray and Hunter Gray; Tracey and Ron Lopers and Nicholas and Taylor Lopers; Krystin Owers and Selma; Geoff and Lisa Hahn and Braydon, Oliva and Ethan Hahn; Cameron and Stephanie Hahn and Emma and Max Hahn; Christopher and Valerie Hahn and Clara, Adam, Jacob and Julia Hahn.
Alex was born in Cambridge and attended Highland School, St. Andrews School and Southwood Secondary School. He graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning and Geography. After working as clerk administrator for Carrick Township, he worked for the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing in Toronto as a consultant. He then took the position of Clerk for the City of Cambridge.
Alex loved life. He was a great athlete and holds some records for the W.R.D.S.B in track & field (hurdles) and football (yards rushing). He loved his family and friends and liked nothing better than having a roaring fire in his fireplace and a room full of friends. The family dogs Casey, Diva, Ashley and Gibby were always there. He loved his home and gardening and attending sporting events and hockey and football games.
Alex was a kind, generous, humble and gentle man with a heart of gold. His laugh and great sense of humor will be missed by many. Family and friends will hold him close in their hearts forever.
The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Alex’s Life in the Rotunda of Cambridge City Hall, 50 Dickson Street, Cambridge on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 3pm.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at Sanctuary Park, Port Elgin.
