My deepest sympathies to the Mitchell family.  I met Alex on a band exchange in high school and stayed in touch for many years after.  We reconnected a few years ago and have kept in touch through email and FB.  I will miss his charm and his sense of humour.  My prayers are with you.

Andrea and Tom, Cheryl and I are saddened today upon hearing the passing of Alex. He truly was a kind and special person. I will truly miss him.

Alex always made me smile and laugh, he was a person I always enjoyed seeing, he will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Alex was the first CAO for the newly amalgamated Municipality of South Bruce in 1999.  The staff at South Bruce is shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Alex's passing.  We recall fondly his love of the Leafs and his friendly upbeat personality.  We would like to express our sincere condolences to his daughter Michaela, and all of Alex's family.

Alex was a wonderful, kind man.    He was so kind to my son, who delivered the Kitchener Record to Alex when he lived in Mildmay.   Rest in peace Alex

Alex was the Best Man at our wedding and Godfather to our daughter. Sometimes life just got in the way of being able to keep in touch as much as we would've liked, but whenever we reconnected over the years, it was always like we had never lost touch at all. Alex was always good ole' Alex with his big smile, and hardy chuckle. We celebrate a life well lived, even if it was too short. We will cherish our memories forever, and our hearts go out to all of his family and friends.

Alex, your quick wit, sense of humour, infectious laugh and "tell it like it is" nature made you stand out from the crowd. May you rest in peace knowing just how many lives you touched. You will be dearly missed.

I don't know how a one endures the loss of such a jovial, witty, bright and breezy, and, generous hearted father, son, brother and friend.  Alex not only had many acquaintances but many, many, true friends.  He surrounded himself with the best of the best because good people were just drawn to Alex.  He was magnetic!  My heart goes out to Michaela, his parents, brother, Mark, and, special friend, Trish.  I wish you all the healing in the world at this difficult time and hope the wonderful memories pull you though.
