It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Devonne "Bonnie" Marlene Potentier on February 27th, 2026, at the age of 86, after a lengthy and courageous battle with lung cancer. Bonnie passed peacefully in the comfort of her home with her beloved daughter by her side.
Bonnie is together once again with her beloved husband Gorden (2025) and daughter Donna (2012).
Bonnie leaves behind her cherished daughter, Lisa. She was a proud grandmother to Melissa, Mandy, Clint, Krista (Adam), and Kayla, and a loving great-grandmother to Layla, Rianna, Mariah, Mylah, Farrah, and Leo. She was also a dear sister to Delores Higgins. She will be forever missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
Bonnie was the backbone of her family. A steady, caring presence who could always be counted on for support and comfort. She took pride in caring for those she loved and was often the one others turned to in times of need. Her strength and quiet leadership helped shape the close-knit family she cherished so deeply.
An avid reader throughout her life, Bonnie found great joy in books and stories, often reading a dozen or more books each month. Her love for reading remained with her right up until her passing. Bonnie was also a dedicated and hardworking woman, beginning her career at Hostess as a teenager and remaining there until her retirement. After Bonnie retired from Hostess, she became a dedicated CMHC volunteer for 20 years, a testament to her loyalty and strong work ethic
Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations made in Bonnie's memory to Lung Cancer Canada would be gratefully appreciated.
Bonnie’s legacy of love, generosity, and quiet resilience will live on in all who knew and loved her.
