Laurene was born on Oct 19, 1933 to her (predeceased) parents Herbert Becker and Eva Lovina Brown. She was the youngest of six children. She grew up on the family farm located in the New Dundee area where they enjoyed the simple things in life; farming, gardening, baking, crocheting, knitting, quilting, living and loving each day.
Laurene told us many stories of how she walked many miles each day to attend her school, S.S.No. 8 located on the Huron Road. Her roots extend to The Sararas farm house (her Grandmother; Sophia Sararas) , which was donated to Doon Heritage Village museum as it still stands today. Laurene started working at KW hospital as a nurses aid helping people. She was always surrounded by many friends as she loved people and had a special charm and wit about her that attracted her husband, Orval. Eventually they started a family business where they both worked at for 25 years located at 48 Grand Avenue south. The business was sold, eventually torn down, and is now where the Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge (formerly Dunfield Theatre) is located.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Coutts Funeral Home at 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm. The funeral service will be on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at Calvary Pentecostal Assembly, 127 Hespeler Rd., Cambridge. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Calvary Pentecostal Assembly or Gideon's International would be appreciated by the family.
When you love someone tell them each day because life is uncertain and can be taken in a flash. We love you and miss you so much.
