A private service was held in Manitoba in late September for our dear friend, Fraser.

The Graupners

Fraser was born in Toronto where his family resided until his parents divorced when he was a young teen.  Niagara Falls then became his home with his mother who ran a boarding house for many Italian construction workers.   At that time, Fraser found solace in sitting quietly in church.

Fraser briefly attended Queen’s University in Kingston before becoming a Chartered Accountant (C.A.). He worked as an auditor for the federal government but turned away from this work, which he found stressful and sad, in the mid-60s.  At that point, Fraser took up a teaching post at Southwood Secondary School in Cambridge.  There he taught accountancy and was the Student Advisor and Activities Director for many years.  To the end of his days, Fraser would still meet former students who would remember him.

In the mid-70s, Fraser opened his C.A. office serving the community in Cambridge.   He and his wife, Irene, also a professional accountant, ran the business meeting many wonderful residence of the area, until retirement.

Fraser and Irene both enjoyed ballroom dancing.  They took lessons and taught for many years in Grimsby.  They traveled to Blackpool, U.K. to see the professional competitions.  Often times, while on cruises and at other dance venues vacationing, their obvious talent was recognized and they’d be asked to dance to the delight of the other patrons.  They met and retained friends from their years of dance.

Fraser had a great love for reading about philosophy and economics.  He loved to continually discover and discuss “the way the world works” and “how people respond to their every changing world. His “spark” ignited many lively conversations and interactions within his circle of friends.  

Fraser delighted in story-telling admitting that he “never let the truth get in the way of a good story."  

Fraser was our friend, mentor.  It was an honor to know him.

Fraser, as well as Irene, enjoyed music and dance. We remember happy times with dance classes, dinner dances, dancing events and dance weekends in New York State. We also remember socializing at various restaurants with Fraser and Irene.  Many wonderful memories help ease the sadness one feels.

His business course was good I think it was marketing involved  to that I took
He also helped the SAC there and Tuck Shop functions.
