Gary Anthony Slough

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Anthony Slough, who passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at Stirling Heights Long-Term Care, after a lengthy and courageous battle following a stroke. He was 71 years old.

Beloved husband of Marilyn Slough for 35 wonderful years. Loving father to Brianna (Michael) Beacham, and proud grandpa to his cherished granddaughters, Kinsley and Chloe. Gary is survived by his brother Kevin (Sue) Slough, and sister Patricia (Doug) Findlay. He will be deeply missed by his sisters-in-law Sharon (John) Bolton and Susan Bolton, along with his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of special friends.

Gary met Marilyn in Flin Flon, Manitoba, and together they moved to Ontario in 1987 to begin their new life. A dedicated and driven professional, Gary began his career with Mutual Group (Sun Life) and went on to thrive in project management roles with several companies, including Check-Free Solutions, Manulife, and RIM.

Gary was a man of many passions. He was an avid collector of hockey and baseball cards, stamps, and had a remarkable collection of army figurines, which he lovingly painted by hand. He also found joy in gardening, trail walking, and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters, who brought him immeasurable happiness.

Though he appreciated cottage getaways to Tobermory and Muskoka, Gary was a true homebody at heart. His home was always open, a welcoming place where friends and family felt at ease. He was known for his warmth, humour, and the quiet strength with which he faced life’s challenges.

Visitation will be held at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St Andrews Street, Cambridge on Monday, July 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 22nd from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow at a later date.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Freeport Hospital and Stirling Heights Long-Term Care for their exceptional care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Stirling Heights Long-Term Care.
