Passed away peacefully, at Freeport Health Centre on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at the age of 91.

Beloved husband of Elfriede; in their 65th year of marriage. Loving father of Barb Andrade and her husband George. Proud Opa of Chelsea (Christine) and Mary (Henry). He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother Frank Bergman, sister in-law Rosemary Tiessen, cousin Alfred (Jessie), family and friends. Predeceased by his sister Louise Quapp and brother-in-law John Quapp, brother-in-law Peter Tiessen, sister in-law Barbara Bergman, niece Marian Crome and nephew Ron Tiessen as well as other family and friends.

The family wish to thank the staff at Freeport Health Centre, especially the 4th floor, for their wonderful care.

Henry was born in Rudnerwiede, Molotchna Mennonite Colony, South Russia and immigrated to Canada in 1948. He was a tomato farmer in Leamington for over 40 years. After retirement, they moved to Cambridge to be closer to their family. Here he became involved in his new community by volunteering with various organizations including Meals on Wheels, the Gleaners, singing with both the Cambridge Senior Choir and Cambridge Male Chorus, and playing euchre with many different groups. He also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and canning. He was especially known for his spicy pickles and dilly beans.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the T. Little Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, Cambridge (519-623-1290) on Saturday, September 7th from 12:45 – 1:45 p.m. The Memorial Service to celebrate his life will follow in the T. Little Chapel at 2 p.m.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Ontario Christian Gleaners or Community Support Connections – Meals on Wheels would be appreciated by his family.

I enjoyed meeting and singing with Henry at the Cambridge Senior Choir.
He will be missed by all at the choir.
