Herbert James Dakin

One of Canada’s Decorated World War II Veteran’s passed away peacefully with his love by his side, on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 97th year. He will be forever remembered by his love/sweetie pie, Joyce Dakin. Sadly missed by his children; Richard & Catherine Dakin. Also missed by his step children; Vivienne (Frank) Fernie, Stephen (Laura) Smith, Leslie (John) Mongomery, Richard (Tracey) Smith and David (Pat) Smith. Loving Poppa to Kimberly, Sean, Danielle, Melissa, Matthew, Rebecca, Luke, Mark, Kyal, Makala, Emma, Noah, Liam and Hayley. Dear brother of Charles Dakin. Special friend to Joe & Teresa Pratecanta, Margaret MacNamara, Don & Rose Maderos and Pam Strub. He was predeceased by his sister Ruby Dakin. Special thank you to Dr. Prabhu Benjamin for all your care and dedication. Thank you to Francesco for all the wonderful chats, and thank you to Natalie. Thank you to all people who befriended Herb during his life and were there along the way. To honor Herb’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Joyce Dakin and Kimberly would like to thank the staff at Coutts Funeral Home for the wonderful service they received.
