After a lengthy illness, on Sunday, April 10, 2011, Ian James Stanley was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in his 80th year. Ian leaves behind his dearly loved wife of 56 years, Jane. Beloved father to his son David and daughter Linda Cuthill (Bill). Cherished grandfather to Katelyn, Amy, and Nicholas. Ian was also a wonderful uncle to Maureen and Mark (Lori). Ian is predeceased by his parents James and Constance Stanley and by his older brother Gordon Stanley (Miriam); and mother-in-law Mabel Gray all of whom are with their Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Ian spent all his life serving the Lord as a true and faithful servant. He ministered to others during many years of service as Vice President, World Vision Canada and finally as President, Prison Fellowship Canada. Through Ian's God-given compassion for others and passion for Christ, many lives were touched and forever changed. Ian left a footprint in this world and we are all blessed for having known him. Ian will be deeply missed by his family and many close friends. The words, "Well done! My good and faithful servant!" greeted Ian upon his entrance into heaven. A special thank you to Dr. Williams, Cambridge Memorial 5th floor nurses, and CCAC for their kindness and care. Friends will be received at Coutts Funeral Home , 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held from Avenue Road Baptist Church, 465 Avenue Road, Cambridge on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to World Vision Canada would be appreciated.
