Irene went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, August 11 2025. Beloved daughter of Carl and Tena Peterson. Treasured sister of Lloyd Peterson, the late Pearl Clarkson and the late Phyllis Bisnett. Loving wife of the late William (Bill) Stewart. Will be dearly missed by several nieces and nephews. Irene will be remembered for her kindness and generosity to her family and friends and also for her sharp mind which stayed with her until the end.
Irene was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan and later moved to Cambridge, Ontario where she worked at Bibby Foundry and retired at the age of 58. Irene was a long time member of Forward Baptist Church where she faithfully attended and served.
Irene moved from her home on Elmwood Avenue to Fairview Mennonite Home where she was well cared for until October, 2021. Irene then moved to Seasons Royal Oak Village in Lasalle, Ontario. The family would like to thank the Seasons staff for their comfort and care in her final years.
Visitation with friends and family will be held at Coutts Funeral Home in Cambridge, Ontario on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. Followed by graveside service at Mount View Cemetery.
