MAY, James Dean (October 1st, 1960 – July 31st, 2019)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Dad & Poppy, on July 31st, 2019 at the age of 58. Jim was surrounded by his loving and devoted family during his brief battle with cancer. Jim leaves behind a treasured path of family; his loving and beautiful wife of 39 years Lori May (Sherren). His devoted children; Jessica Martins (Carlos), Amanda Roopnarine (Kiran), James May (Laura) and his beautiful Grandchildren, who absolutely adored their Poppy; Ethan, Oliver, Elle, Aliyah, Kaili, Layla, Carter and Cal. Jim leaves behind his brothers and sisters; Barry May (Tracey), David May (Wanda), Cathy Ford (Brian) and Lynn Gibson (Dave). Jim was predeceased by his parents James Albert May and Mary Evelyn May (Wilson), and his brothers Gordon (Gary) May, Robert (Bob) May. Jim will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and extended family. Jim had a 35 year career working for P & H Milling/Dover Industries doing a job that he enjoyed. Jim volunteered in his community for many years as a coach and a mentor with his children and grandchildren; softball, baseball, ringette and hockey. Jim enjoyed many volunteer hours at the hockey school with Al and Ron. Jim and Lori loved to travel and met many friends along the way. Jim also enjoyed playing golf, bringing both skill and humor to the golf course. A special thanks to our lifelong friends Rosaire and Kathy Morrison for all their love and support. The family would like to thank all the staff at Lisaard house for their brief but compassionate care during Jim’s stay. A celebration of life will be held in Jim’s honour on Thursday August 15th 2019 at Whistle Bear Golf Club, 1316 Dickie Settlement Rd., Cambridge, Ontario from 6-9pm, all welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lisaard house would be appreciated by the family.

James and Lori May are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. From the very first day we meet them while doing an "Amazing Race" game while on a cruise...... to our visit with them last year in Canada...... have been some of our fondest memories. We love you both and will miss James and his jokes very much. Lori, we will always be here for you.

To our wonderful friend and client, know that your warm personality will be so missed. You were such a great friend in the years that we knew you. I was a newcomer to Canada and you welcomed me and sat patiently through my broken English, helping me learn to speak. You were always so generous, but the greatest gift you ever gave us was your presence. We are so saddened by your passing, we hope your family copes and heals and finds comfort in the memories of the person you were.

To Lori and family, my sincerest condolences on the passing of Jim. He was a great friend and person. I have spent many hours with him on the golf course and at Dickson arena where he made me and many others laugh so hard it was almost sinful. The memories will never fade away.

My Dear Lori and Family:
My heart is so saddened by the loss of Jim. Nothing will ever take away the memories that Ron and I have of such a special friend. Jim left us far to early, but the gift he gave to all of us was his non stop personality, his community giving to kids in sports and just his all around friendship to all that knew him. Their life was enriched just by knowing him.
Rest in peace my friend, you will be truly missed.

Jim was a great teacher, mentor and friend to me and always made time to talk. It didn't matter if I was having a good or bad day, he would always make me feel better with his encouragement, kind words and crazy jokes. Jim is one of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with. I send my sincere condolences to his family and friends. May the memories of Jim live on in all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He truly made the world a better place.

Lori and family: My sincere condolences to all of you in your sad loss of Jim. He was highly respected by my husband Jim Whitelaw during his employment with the Ontario Wheat Board and then later with FGDI in Blenheim, along with my son Ken. Both greatly appreciated Jim's integrity and respect for all business endeavours. He will be greatly missed by all of you, as well as the grain industry.

I didn't know Jim very long but could easily see the love he had for Lori and his family. The stories Bonnie and Danielle told me about him proved what a truly devoted kind and generous man he was. To his family, may you take comfort in the knowledge you were blessed with the unwavering love of a very special man and relive precious memories of him with a warm heart and big smile.
