John was a devoted husband, proud and beloved father, brother, uncle, grandad, and great-grandad, as well as friend to ALL who knew him. Predeceased by his parents, Hazel and James Antle, John left this world peacefully on March 13, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family, who lovingly sang him home.
For 59 beautiful years, John was a loving and faithful husband to Mary Pittman. They were inseparable from the moment they met, and their bond was built on unwavering devotion, kindness, and strength. Together, they created a family filled with warmth and joy, raising four beautiful children: Theresa (Bob), John (Katherine), Mary (Ryerson), and Patrick (Marina); nine precious grandchildren: Emilie (Mackenzie), Conor (Breanne), Eric, Cassidy (Gage), Katie, Jessica (Kyle), Charlie, Kaylee, and Declan; five sweet great-grandchildren: Finn, Ella, Rory, Willow, and Leo. Over the years, John and Mary were also foster parents to many lucky children who needed a safe and loving home. John embraced everyone with boundless love, affection, and kindness.
John was truly a selfless, joy-filled, hard-working and humble man who always put others before himself. His kindness knew no bounds, his generosity had no limits, and his love was felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Through the songs he sang and wrote, the jokes he told, his teasing ways, and his boisterous laugh, John made the world a much better place. His legacy of love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Though we ache in his absence, we take comfort in the many cherished memories he left behind. He will be deeply missed but never, ever forgotten!
A service to honor and celebrate John’s life will be held on Sunday, March 16th at Little’s Funeral Home on Main Street in Cambridge, from 1-3 p.m., service at 3 p.m. in chapel. In lieu of flowers, and in John's memory, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Newfoundland and Labrador Foster Families Association ([email protected]).
