Beloved wife of William “Bill” for 67 years. Loving mother of Dave (Katherine) and John. Cherished grandmother of Daniel (Caroline), Matthew (Meaghan Gaudet) and Andrew. Proud great-grandmother of Amelia and Mariella. Kay will also be lovingly remembered by her sister Gertrude and many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her brothers Carson, Jack, Don and Tom.
Kay was born Anna Kathryn Logan in Stanley, Nova Scotia and spent her childhood in Nappan, Nova Scotia where her father was employed with a governmental experimental farm. She later studied at MacDonald College (McGill University) in Montreal where she met and married Bill Rochester in 1952. Bill and Kay settled in Ontario, where they raised their family. Over the years they lived in Toronto, Acton, Guelph, Alliston, Huntsville and finally Cambridge, Ontario where they have resided for the last 20 years. They also spent many enjoyable summers at their beautiful, secluded cottage on Cardwell Lake near Huntsville.
Kay spent her working life as a medical secretary in family practices, first in Acton and then in Guelph. Her career was cut short by vision problems and thereafter she devoted herself completely to her family and faithful service to others in the name of Jesus, her Lord and Saviour.
Kay was well known for her Christian faith and strength of character. Her desire was to shine the light of Jesus in her everyday living and she did that. She was actively involved in church work in each of the communities where she and Bill made their home. Guests were common in her home - whether a scheduled visitor or an unexpected drop in, her door was always open and guests were always warmly welcomed with a delicious meal or cup of coffee or tea.
The family wish to thank the staff at Fairview Suites for their compassionate care. Your love and concern for Kay have been a special gift to our family and we are truly grateful.
In accordance with her wishes, a private family service has taken place at New Hope Cemetery, Cambridge. Family and friends are invited to the Memorial Service to celebrate Kay’s life at Fairview Mennonite Home, 515 Langs Drive, Cambridge on Thursday, December 19 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the Memorial Service. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Forward Church Cambridge or the CNIB would be appreciated by the family.
