Beloved husband to Maria Hortense for 58 years and loving father of Manuel (Kathleen), Denis (Dawn) and Julia Thornton (Lawrence). Manuel will be missed by his grandchildren, Garrett Thornton, Everett Thornton, Elliott Thornton and Blaire Da Silva. Honorary Avo to Shannon and Amber. Cherished brother in law to Humberto & Mary Lou Raposo and loving uncle to Leanne Love (Adam). He was greatly loved by his many nieces and nephews.
Manuel travelled to Canada in 1956 and was proud of his accomplishments as a founding member of the Portuguese Church and the Portuguese Club of Cambridge. Manuel loved life on the farm and was known for his long entertaining stories. His love for children, especially his grandchildren was impeccable.
Family will welcome visitors and friends on Sun Nov 11, 2018, at Coutts Funeral home from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral mass will be held Monday November 12th, 11am at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Catholic Church. A reception will follow at Oriental Sports Club located at 1054 Shellard Side Rd, Cambridge.
