Cherished great-grandmother to 17 adorable great grandchildren.

Maria Lourdes was born on April 1, 1926 in Santa Maria, Azores. She immigrated to Canada in 1967. Since that time, she never regretted the decision to relocate her family from Portugal to provide her children with a prosperous future.

Maria Lourdes was a gentle soul with a heart of gold, and saw the good in everyone. She shared her love of crocheting and knitting with her family by gifting them with beautiful keepsakes. She loved music and often took to the dance floor at family events and gatherings. She adored her family, especially her 17 great grandchildren who brought her so much love and joy.

Maria Lourdes will be sadly missed by her beloved sister-in-law, Lourdes Bento, and her many nieces and nephews. She will be forever remembered by her niece and best friend, Natalia Cabral.

The family would like to thank Pauline Correia, her kind and caring PSW, Dr. Sefin, and finally, the incredible nurses and staff at Innisfree House.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Innisfree House in memory of Maria Lourdes Sousa.

I remember prima Lourdes ,every time I went to visit the family in Cambridge ,she would come over with cavacas, and one year she made me bring home on the plane ,because she knew my husband love them ,and during the flight everyone was asking what I had in the bag that smelled so good ,and they were delicious .
May her soul rest in peace ,she had a good life and now was time to go home to God
My prayers and thoughts are with all the family

I have very fond memories of Mrs. Sousa when we used to live on Linwood Avenue. She was such a lovely lady, always with a smile on her face. May she rest in peace and fly with the Angels. And may her family take comfort in knowing that she has joined her husband in heaven.

God Bless!
