We are profoundly saddened by Martin’s passing on September 25, 2020. Martin and Bridget, his beloved partner, raised a beautiful family; children Alycia, Mitchell (deceased), Miles and Nishka, and grandchildren, Malcolm, Kyle, Abigail, Sage, Valentina, Otis, and great-grandchild Amiyah. He is survived by mother Sara, and sister Carolyn. He was predeceased by his father, Dr. Robert Turner and brother, Alden Turner. Martin studied film at the University of Manitoba and Art Center College of Design at UCLA in Pasadena, California. He was a director, cinematographer, videographer, editor, screenwriter, and designer. Martin worked at Lightshow Communications, Oxford Scientific Films in England, City TV, Much Music, YTV, CBC, and Access Network. Martin was involved in non-for-profit filmmaking training in the Indigenous arts community. He was a director of feature-length films for Visiblize Studios. More recently, Martin was founder and lead designer of Vevelo human-powered EVs. Beyond his academic and professional achievements, Martin had an interest in science-research, current affairs, visual art and photography. Family and friends will gather at a later date to be determined for a screening in his memory.
