Mary Miller de la Plante

Peacefully surrounded by her family at the Lion’s Head Hospital, Lion’s Head, Ontario on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the age of 90. Mary was the youngest daughter of Horace Aylmer Elliott and Gladys Emma Evans of Galt, Ontario. Predeceased by her much loved husband D’Arcy (2011). Cherished mother of Teresa (Peter Hubacheck), Paul (Pierrette Richer), David (Claire), Peter (Sherri Haggith) and Susan (David Christie). Grandmother of Geneviève (Steve Puente), Jean Marc (Alexa Green), Joseph (Reiko Stewart), Paul, Eric, Joe and Matthew. Great-grandmother of Gael and Xavier. She will be deeply missed by her sister Jean Elliott, and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Dorothy (Robert) Jackson, Peggy (Lesley) Farris and sister-in-law Helen de la Plante. While raising their 5 children, Mary always found time to share her gentle spirit as a volunteer. Mary had a lifelong interest in community, volunteering with Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton, the Neptune Theater in Halifax, as well as fundraising for the Galt Hospital. Thank you to all the staff at The Claremont Residence, Toronto and the Golden Dawn Retirement Home, Lion’s Head. Special thanks to Arlene McPherson. Family will receive friends at T. Little Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 223 Main Street, Cambridge, 519-623-1290 for visitation on Saturday, January 24 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
