It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Noel Welham, who left us peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 18 after a long and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by love. By his side were the love of his life, Karen; his father Gerry; his loving sister-in-law Kim and brother-in-law Cal; and his dear friends Leslie and Reg — affectionately known to him as “Reglie.”
Noel will be deeply and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife and best friend, Karen, and his cherished grandson, Jackson, who brought him endless pride and joy. He leaves behind his loving parents, Carol Welham and Gerry Welham (Maggie); his mother-in-law Carol Wilson; his sister-in-law Kim Wilson and Calvin Cerson; as well as his niece Jill (Matt), nephew Alex (Brooke), great-niece Raevynn, and great-nephew Leo.
He was predeceased by his brother Marc; his grandparents Elizabeth and Harry Jelf, May and George Welham; and his father-in-law, Bob Wilson. We take comfort in imagining Noel reunited with Marc — likely sharing a laugh and a cold beer together once again.
Noel dedicated his career as a forklift mechanic at Sure Lift, where he began working alongside his father, and continued on at Lift North America until November 2024 — a testament to his loyalty, work ethic, and deep sense of family.
Noel was an incredibly intelligent man, with a thoughtful and curious mind. As his mom often said, if you asked Noel a question, you wouldn’t get an answer right away — he would take the time to research it and come back with the best possible answer. He valued getting things right, and that careful, deliberate approach showed in everything he did. He was also always up for a good laugh, known for his quick wit and dry, sarcastic humour that those close to him will forever cherish.
He found great joy in bringing people together. Noel loved preparing incredible meals for family and friends, always paired with a thoughtfully chosen bottle of wine — one he had carefully researched and selected. Evenings often ended with a smoky, peaty scotch, a passion he proudly refined over the years and one that led him to become an avid collector.
Above all, Noel treasured time spent with those he loved. Whether travelling, creating memories, or taking pride in the home he and Karen built together, he poured himself into the details that made life special. His home was a reflection of that care, as were his meticulously kept vehicles. And for those who knew him well, his man cave was truly something to behold — a space that perfectly captured his personality, passions, and sense of comfort.
Noel will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity, his attention to detail, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished always.
Karen and Jackson would like to thank everyone for the love and support they have received during this difficult time. They extend a special thank you to Noel’s medical team for the compassionate care he received, and are especially grateful to the Kingswood family for the kindness, love, and support they have shown to Jackson.
