A much-loved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Olive Fraser, 96, of Galt (Cambridge), passed away peacefully with her family present. Olive was born July 21, 1918 in Glen Morris, Ontario where her brother Mickey (predeceased) spoiled her by doing all the farm chores so she could climb trees and play. Under the watchful eye of her parents Kenneth and Janet McDonald she was courted by William “Bill” Fraser (predeceased 2002) and it was not long before they were married. Settling in Galt, Olive and Bill raised four children; Beverly (Robert Boyer), Shirley (Brian Sinclair), James Fraser (Nancy) and Robert Fraser (Susan).
Olive loved to stay active with her swimming, hiking, cross country skiing, gardening and all-night sewing projects. But most of all she loved spending time with her family and was exceptionally close to her 10 Grandchildren; David (Catherine), Kori (Wayne), Cheryl (Bruce), Richard (Belinda), Cathy, Sophia (Robert), Heather (Meguel), Cory, Drummond (Amanda) and Hunter and her 15 Great-Grandchildren Kelly, Robert, Kevin, Mallory, Christina, Kyle, Joshua, Daniel, Shelby, Brooklynn, Karmelita, Olivia, Isaac, Pearson and Meredith.
Olive was known for her warmth, generosity and welcoming spirit. She had a great sense of humour and was always the first one to laugh.
Family members would like to express our deepest appreciation of the care and compassion the staff of Fairview Mennonite Home has shown to Olive during her stay with you. It meant a lot to us and to her.
