It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Peter Gartner on September 6, 2021 at Hospice Wellington in Guelph at the age of 88. With him by his side was his daughter Lorrie and his son Carl.
Peter is predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Geiger) in 1987. Together they had seven children; Paul (predeceased 1959), Peter (Greta), Phil (Elaine), Lorrie (John), Linda, Robert, and Carl, his ten grandchildren; Candace (Steve), Jasper, Kathleen, Lola, Brit (Tyler), Emma (Simon), Lisa (Roland), Tanya (Nick), Ali (Brian), and Sheila, and eleven great-grandchildren; Roenigk, Jonas, Juliet, Adalyn, Zackary, Ryland, Anthony, Ava, Emilia, Lucas, and Curtis.
After Mary passed, Peter met a new love of his life, Brenda. She has four daughters; Elizabeth (Murray predeceased), Caroline (Doug), Judith (predeceased), and Louise, who became part of our extended family.
Peter was born on September 8, 1932. He had two older siblings Niki and Maria (predeceased). He will be sadly missed, but not forgotten by his family and friends. The Gartner family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all the staff at Hospice Wellington for all of their great care and loving support during Peter’s final days. Also thanks to T. Little Funeral Home for helping us through this difficult time. We would appreciate, in lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice or to Hospice Wellington.
A Celebration of life will be held at T. Little Funeral Home on Friday, September 10th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Space inside is limited to 20 guests at a time, so please wait patiently in the parking lot for your chance to drop in. Cremation will follow and Peter will be laid to rest at Mount View Cemetery.
