Rita Mary Papp

With heavy hearts, we announce Rita’s passing on Tuesday, April 21st, 2026, at Stirling Heights LTC. Rita passed peacefully with her family by her side. She is the beloved wife of Leonard, sharing 55 wonderful years together. Loving mother to Len Jr. (Susan), Jason (Heather), and Pamela (Eric) Luxton. Proud Nanny to Derek (Melanie), Lauren, Marina, Airilyn, Meccias, Sierha, and Ava. Dear sister to Loretta Lively, Billy (Mary) Dwyer of Alberta, Margaret Daniels, and Phonse Dwyer. Sister-in-law to Betty Anne Gray, Caroline DeLiens, Lillian DeLiens, and Mary Ann DeLiens. Rita will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her extended family and friends.

Born in Bell Island, Newfoundland, Rita later made her home in Cambridge, Ontario in 1966, where she built a life centered around family, love, and devotion. She had a vibrant spirit and a contagious love of life. Rita found great joy in dancing, and nothing meant more to her than watching her children and grandchildren grow. Her family was her world, and she was truly the glue that held everyone together. She was always on the go, often keeping busy with her ever-present care for her home and those she loved.

Rita’s final moments reflected the love she gave so freely—surrounded by her family, sharing stories, laughter, and even a toast with her favourite Diet Pepsi and Crown.

The family would like to sincerely thank the team at Stirling Heights LTC for their compassionate and dedicated care. Because of you, our mom was able to spend her final days with dignity, comfort, and surrounded by love.

Relatives and friends will be received at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge, on Friday, April 24th, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, at St. Ambrose Parish, 210 South Street, Cambridge, at 1:30 p.m. Rita will then be laid to rest at Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge. Everyone is invited to join for a reception at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge.

As expressions of sympathy, donations made in Rita’s memory to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
