After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Simon Andrew Ager passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the age of 56. Simon was a loving father, brother and friend to all who knew him.
Born in England, Simon emigrated to Canada in 1966 with his family, his father, mother and sister. Growing up in Acton, Simon was involved in many sports activities and remains close to his childhood friends to this day. After moving to Cambridge with his family, Simon earned his Bachelor of Science at the University of Western Ontario and then his diploma in Surveying and Construction Management at Stoke-on-Trent in England. Simon worked in Florida for 8 years where he enjoyed working in construction, playing golf, watching all sports and spending time with his family and new friends. In 1998, Simon moved back to Cambridge continuing to work in construction, enjoying the company of his co-workers and numerous business acquaintances. His son Andrew was born in March of 1999. A very special father, Simon was devoted to Andrew. He gave freely of his time to coaching soccer in Cambridge. Simon always had a smile and a kind word for everyone, lending a hand to anyone in need. An avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Maple Leafs, and the Raptors, he enjoyed watching all sports. He loved to golf and was always up for a tournament.
Simon will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his son Andrew Ager, sister Janet Traynham, brother-in-law Joe, mother Jeannie Ager, and father Colin Ager (Chan) including his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Simon’s family is deeply grateful to his close friends in Cambridge including Billy, Chad, Kyle and Kevin along with their spouses and families.
